Akumal Bay is the 'main' bay of the Akumal community that consists of 5 separate bays.
The beach is some of the best on this coast. There are a half dozen restaurants, several shops, two small grocery stores, a dive center, museum, internet shop, a couple of condo properties, one rental home, one hotel and a travel agency here. Snorkeling from the shore is excellent. |

Jade Bay is two miles south of Akumal Bay. There are about a dozen homes and one condo property.
The sand on the south end is excellent. Further north there is exposed limestone. Rock also lines the water's edge so protective footwear is needed. Snorkeling from the shore is superb. |
